Solid wastes cause congestion in the Municipal sewage its the end of the life cycle for some systems; but small scale gasification systems like the PowerCan® 200 lend a helping hand. Solid wastes can be extracted in line upstream and at a local level. “This significantly reduces the impact on the water treatments system at the end of the line” says SOLIDEA’s Steve Walker “A containerized system is unobtrusive taking up no more space than a few parking places, it processes the extracted solid waste or sludge”.
The PowerCan® 200 system produces a bio-waste pellets in line. The pellets are then fed into the PowerCan® 200 CHP unit to generate energy. CHP produces heat which is used for the sludge drying process. The electricity generated keeps the whole pellet production process operational 24 hours per day with most of the electrical energy produced by the CHP is sold to the local power grid as renewable energy. Producing bio-waste pellets from “Sludge” is nothing new and the process was already developed for a wide range of WtE applications. The same technology used in Municipal Waste is also used in farming, food and other industries for dealing with bio-waste and its packaging, turning them into valuable energy feedstock for gasification systems often much larger than the PowerCan® 200 .

The compact, containerized extraction and drying process of PowerCan® 200 is unique it means the system is most versatile. The PowerCan® 200 can serve many purposes either adding value reducing the solid waste loads upstream from the Waste Water Treatment Plant or at the end of the line at the Waste Water Treatment Plant where it makes waste extinct. In any event a movable system ensures a solution wherever it is needed and when.
By reducing the burden on existing infrastructure in line, PowerCan® 200 actually extends the life cycle of the waste water piping system it means that the whole existing infrastructure life cycle is extended often obviating the need for new canals and networks. The PowerCan® 200 is far lower cost than that of a new waste water piping system even when whole communities are expanded they can hook up to an existing system. At either end of the line the PowerCan® 200 is a valuable energy source significantly reducing the environmental impact of waste in water by extracting the solids and recovering more water as all the water in the inline extinction process is returned to the waste water piping system.
Low cost PowerCan® 200 systems not only extend the life cycle performance of existing infrastructure they significantly add value by improving it. PowerCan® 200 systems are producing electricity and heat locally and where its needed and by using the existing infrastructure we develop “smart grids” and “smart systems” the more solid waste in the system the more energy is required to maintain the system PowerCan® 200 manages this simply by producing more energy from the increase in feedstock.
Excess bio-waste pellets from the PowerCan® 200 process can be used in other or practically any gasification system [not outdated incineration] so one heavy loaded system can produce a pelletized fuel which can be imported by another. The PowerCan® 200 can be very efficient converting a burden of free solid wastes and as much as 80% of bio-waste pellets produced can be distributed for resale from this process.
PowerCan® 200 Waste to energy systems can pelletize sludge and solids extruding them with sawdust or ground biomass or other imported materials. The bulk handling process may be developed to local conditions to make use of a range or combination of biomass even MSW fiber feedstock. Combining two or more feedstocks in extrusion speeds up the drying process, reduces the energy requirement for the drying process and reduces the risk of dust. As a ready product bio-waste pellets are inactive, sanitized clean and dust free they can be readily and safely handled.
They can be stored in ventilated conditions in almost any climate for an indefinite period without loosing their value as a fuel.
